Bios for "High Desert Rats"
April Scott is a veteran Improver. She is co-founder of "April's Fools" and "High Desert Rats" Improv Troupes. She directs, performs and teaches Improv workshops and classes in the South Bay Area and High Desert. She has performed the Los Angeles circuit including the Comedy Store in Hollywood and has studied with the Groundlings and Philippe Durand.
Keaton Bordman has never had any real acting experience, but he loves to laugh. He says, “I have been humiliated so many times, I don’t embarrass easily.” Therefore, he has limitless courage in Improv. He is doing “double duty” for us, working our Sound & Lights.
Sharon Faust is an aspiring actress who wanted to expand her acting skills by learning Improv. This has proved to be an excellent move; since she has discovered it is much less expensive than group therapy and has many of the same benefits.
Greg Horn spent 9 years touring the country as an evangelist and a stand-up comedian. He attended the Judy Carter Comedy Workshop in Los Angeles and decided to join our troupe after seeing us perform. He says “Improv keeps your spirits up and heals in spite of the drama in your life.”
Kelly Iliff studied theatre as a genre and a performing art at Sonoma State University. She began pursuing her “authentic self” and joined the troupe in 2006. She considers performing Improv a cross between exhilaration and humiliation: “It’s kinda like skydiving and landing in a public place without your clothes on,” she says.
John Kane is commonly referred to as a "lazy actor". He tried stage acting in community productions, but did not like to memorize lines. He tried stand up comedy, but again, he had to memorize material. Ugh!! Then one day he saw an Improv show. No lines to memorize? O.K.!! “Hey that was easy, why not direct.”
Olivia Luna She is a retired educator, a student of the arts, and has studied under John Kane and April Scott. She has performed in "Harvey"
at HDCA. She has done numerous commercials for A and D Talent. She now finds herself addicted to Improv after being featured in three
performances with the “High Desert Rats”.
Raymond L. Puffer finds Improv the perfect way to do what he likes to do best, join kindred spirits in making people laugh. He has fifteen years experience with stage and street comedy at the Renaissance Pleasure Faire and 3 years with Theatre Quest in Pasadena. He finds our troupe just the “right size and the right kind of people to work with.”
Kimberly Wimberly, (yes that’s her real name) was raised on “I Love Lucy” and old Jerry Lewis movies. She has always had a real appreciation of comedy. But when asked to join our Improv class, she said, “ARE YOU CRAZY? I COULD NEVER DO THAT!” Kim’s been with us for 4 months and is officially an Improv junkie. “It’s unnerving in a very enlightening way.”
