"The Center for the Arts"  presents

                                    Leah McEntee

Leah is a new local artist; endowed with a natural gift of design and color, she never put oil to canvas until recently.

Born in Riverside, CA, she claims to have been mediocre in school art classes, and never good at drawing. But at home, she was a genius with handcrafts. At 5 she was crocheting dollies, by 6 she had knitted her dad a pair of argyle socks and by 11 she owned her very own sewing machine. This was the small stuff. As she grew, her projects grew, including building a fort, house painting and upholstery.

After a career in aero space, she joined Sears (the department store). Her natural eye for design was quickly noticed and over time, she became a “The” display manager for multiple Sear stores.

In 1994 she moved to Hesperia to be near family. She spends lots of time with her grandchildren, teaching them to draw.

Keeping her talent in Southern California, was our gain. Currently she is using her skills, at the Center for The Arts. Among her many tasks and projects, she is the current Wardrobe Mistress and helps design and paint sets for TAG.

Still her “Fine Art” talents needed to be explored. About 40 years ago, she did one “Still Life” painting in acrylics, then put the small brushes aside. But, this year, her eye for design and color was noticed by Ralph Duran, the Center's Art Master. He invited her to join him and his painter friends at their weekly gathering of paint and brushes. The rest is history. Just check out her work on this website or come to the Center for the Arts and discover her talent.

Artistic talent cannot remain dormant.
